Cough And Cold Treatment At Home
A cold is a common disease that arises mainly during the rainy and winter seasons. It makes us very tired and irritated. I believe in some home remedies to treat cold problems. In addition to effective treatment of colds and coughs, these home remedies also have no side effects. Here, I have shared some home remedies that can help you treat common colds and coughs. If you have had a cold for 10 days without any improvement, please see a doctor for further treatment.
1. Salt Water:
Salt Water gargling helps you to cure cough easily. This aids in calming a cracked throat that causes you to cough. Take a glass of warm water and add a ½ tablespoon of salt. Mix well and gargle with this water around 3 to 4 times. Continuing this process, helps to relieve throat irritation.
2. Betel Leaf:
Take 2 betel leaves, 1 sambar onion or pearl onion, 2-3 tulsi leaves, and 2 black pepper. What you have to do is wrap all the ingredients in the betel leaf and chew it. You have to swallow this juice. These items are rich in anti-bacterial properties. They help to cure cold problems.
3. Turmeric Milk:
To make turmeric milk you need a cup of milk, 1 tablespoon of sugar, half teaspoon of turmeric powder, and crushed 2 peppers. Turmeric provides you instant relief, relieves chest congestion, and aids in blood purification. Boil milk in the pan or vessel and add turmeric powder and crushed black peppers. Black pepper has antibacterial properties which aid in fighting against infection. add sugar or jaggery to it let it boil for 5 to 10 minutes on a low flame. Give a good stir and switch off the flame and serve hot.
4. Ginger Tea or Kshayam:
To make ginger tea you need a cup of water, half-inch grated ginger, half teaspoon of lemon juice, and one teaspoon of honey. Boil a cup of water and add grated ginger to it. Boil for 5 minutes until it starts to change its colour. Let it cool, I mean let it be slightly hot. Filter this water in the cup and add lemon juice and honey into it. Give a good mix, here you can use jaggery instead of honey.
5. Tulsi Kashayam:
Tulsi Kashayam is common in our homes during the rainy season. For this take a cup of water, 10 petals of tulsi leaves, crushed two peppercorns, jaggery 1 teaspoon. Boil water and add 10 petals of tulsi(washed and cleaned), crushed peppercorns, and jaggery. Boil for 10 minutes in a simmer.
6. Spiced Tea:
A sip of 1 cup of spiced tea soothes a sore throat, fights against cold, cough, and headache. While preparing your daily tea just add ginger, tulsi, and crushed peppercorns, this will become your best home remedy to cure a cold and cough.
7. Amla / Gooseberry:
Amla or Indian gooseberry is a great source of antioxidants, hence I always use this amla in my daily recipes and beauty recipes too. This amazing Ayurveda ingredient helps in many ways like digestion, to cure acidity, cold and cough, mouth ulcer. It’s used in many more home remedies and beauty remedies like hair care and skin care. Consuming daily 1 amla helps to treat cold and cough. Or you can use fresh amla powder with honey works wonders in sore throats and dry cough. You can use it in juice form by adding a little salt, black pepper to it.
